About the City of Portland Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department:

The Portland Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Department is comprised of 160 full-time and over 250 seasonal staff dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Portland, Maine. They achieve this by operating cultural venues, running community programs (including Before and After School, Swim Lessons, and Senior Adult programs), and maintaining public buildings, waterfront infrastructure, 70 parks, 40+ miles of trails, 13 cemeteries, and 30 playgrounds. Their diverse team, including Park Maintainers, Lifeguards, Event Managers, Horticulturalists, and many others, works collaboratively to provide spaces and opportunities for social connection, recreation, and community development.

Job Summary:

Join our team of golf course groundskeepers to maintain the turf, landscaping, and playing conditions of Riverside golf course. This position will help to ensure the course is aesthetically appealing and safe for golfers through early morning work.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Bunker maintenance
  
• Turf Maintenance of greens
  
• Landscaping and Horticulture of the golf course
  
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
  
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public.
  
• Ability to understand and perform tasks related to seasonal groundskeeping
  
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects for an extended period of time

Required Skills & Experience:

• Previous golf course experience or commercial groundskeeping is preferred.
  
• Experience working with lawn equipment
  
• Valid Class C driver's license with good driving record

Expected Hours/Schedule:

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Salary:

This is a seasonal position with a starting pay range of $16.75-$22.00 per hour, plus a Free limited Golf Membership for the 2026 Season
