The Office of Economic Opportunity of the City of Portland's Housing and Economic Development Department seeks a highly motivated, dynamic, skilled individual to assist the Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO). This involves convening and leveraging public and private partners to assure optimal communication and collaboration so that immigrants, people of color, and other underserved populations have access to job and related support services, as well as economic opportunities. The Outreach and Initiatives Coordinator will manage OEO's various programs and services, assisting with recruiting organizations, businesses, and under-served populations, preparing meetings and backup materials, note-taking, and resultant tasks, as well as creating protocols, processes, or producers to optimize data collection capacity, including forms, spreadsheets, or report templates to facilitate and present data collection and analyses.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage and administratively support OEO's various programs and services, assisting with recruiting organizations, businesses, and under-served populations.
Support and design strategic communication efforts including drafting and distributing OEO's public-facing newsletters, print collateral, content on the City's website and social media.
Collaborates closely with the OEO Director in the conceptual development of initiatives and implementation of new programs, managing logistics, and building out the structures needed to ensure successful delivery and measurable results.
Plans, directs or coordinates activities to seek and maintain funds for special projects, including identifying potential funders, writing grant proposals, coordinating partner roles, and preparing application materials.
Plans, directs, or coordinates outreach activities designed to create, maintain or raise issue awareness for the work of the OEO office, the City or its partner organizations.
Works across teams to track and communicate office impact, identify relevant metrics, and coordinate data collection efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university is required, with a Degree in International Studies, Economics, Law, or other related field; Master's Degree preferred in Economic Development, public Policy, or other related field or 3 years of experience in related field.
Minimum 3 years' experience in program implementation and evaluation; one -year experience in community outreach and social media management.
Experience and knowledge of workforce development;
Strong communication skills – written, verbally, and social media;
The ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships;
The ability to learn quick to learn.

Salary & Benefits:
This is a Non-Union position, Grade C41, with a starting pay of $71,429/year.
