Job Summary:
Join a team that enhances the safety and quality of life of Portland's residents, visitors, and workers. The City of Portland seeks a full-time Licensing and Registration Assistant. This is a specialized customer service position responsible for processing applications, responding to questions and complaints and documentation related to Rent Control. This position will also assist at times with additional license types, such as Marijuana Licensing.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Must have outstanding customer service and communication skills
Assist with additional license types, such as Marijuana Licensing
Ability to communicate effectively with the public to resolve code violations.
Required Skills & Experience:
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills
Work requires accuracy, timeliness and very close attention to detail
Excellent filing and record keeping are required
Must be proficient in Google Docs and Sheets, and be able to quickly learn the City's own programs.
Must have knowledge of cash processing procedures, including daily cash transactions
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Strong customer service and clerical experience is desired
Must be able to work with a diverse population, including people who do not speak English
Candidates must possess a valid State of Maine Class C driver's license and a personal vehicle available for work use
A general working knowledge of local and State marijuana rules

Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, CEBA (Grade13), Pay range starting at $916.50/week.
