Job Summary:
This licensed work involves the performance of a wide variety of assigned nursing duties in an extended care facility. All work is performed under the direction of the professional nursing staff, and LPNs may supervise the work of Certified Nursing Assistants. Full-time, part-time, and per diem schedules are available.
Duties & Responsibilities:
May attend and participate in team conferences.
May order nursing supplies.
Assists as needed with resident personal care.
May function as charge nurse.
Performs such nursing duties as taking temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure; applying dressings and bandages; giving medications, enemas, hypodermics; offers bedside care to patients; assesses residents for changes in condition periodically.
Maintains and updates residents' charts on an ongoing basis.
Provides comfort and emotional support to residents and their family.
Required Skills & Experience:
Considerable experience as a trained practical nurse; graduation from a practical school of nursing recognized by the Maine State Board of Nurses' Examiners; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Must possess current State of Maine registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Working knowledge of nursing theory and practice with ability to apply appropriate nursing techniques.
Working knowledge of the department's practices and procedures.
Up-to-date knowledge of medication administration.
Ability to work as a health team member and to follow instructions and supervision.
Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment in dealing with people.
Ability to keep records and charts and to make reports and observations.
Potential Hours/Schedule:
7am to 3:30pm, 3pm to 11:30pm, and 11pm to 7:30am
Weekday 2nd shift differential of $2.00 per hour
Weekday 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour
Weekend day shift differential of $2.00 per hour
Weekend 2nd shift differential of $3.00 per hour
Weekend 3rd shift differential of $5.00 per hour

Up-to-date immunization records are required for all Barron Center staff
An annual flu vaccine is required
A pre-employment physical is required
Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, CEBA, Grade 10M, Starting salary range $28.93 - $34.55 per hour, plus any applicable shift differentials. A sign-on bonus of $4000 is available for qualified external hires.
