About the Barron Center:
The Barron Center is a 219-bed long-term care skilled nursing facility owned and operated by the City of Portland. Our 200-year history of excellence is the basis for a caring, creative work environment. We are currently looking for dedicated people to join our team!
The Laundry department helps to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for our residents by washing, drying, folding and distributing laundry throughout the facility. Our Laundry team takes care of residents' personal laundry as well as linens for other City of Portland facilities.
Job Summary:

Duties may include distributing clean linen within the facility, rubbish removal, loading and unloading commercial washers and dryers; folding and sorting linen; picking up soiled linen and hanging and delivering personal laundry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position is part of our winter operations team, and snow removal duties are required seasonally.
Excellent customer service skills are required.
Delivery and pickup of linens for other City of Portland facilities.
Required Skills & Experience:
Ability to lift objects weighing over 50 lbs. for an extended period of time
Ability to work in varied temperature conditions
Must possess a valid Maine driver's license
Must be able to follow oral and simple written instructions
Expected Hours/Schedule:
Permanent, full-time position, 40 hours per week, Sunday - Wednesday, 4:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check and a pre-employment physical exam.
Salary & Benefits:
This is a union position, Labor & Trades Grade 11, starting pay range $19.76 - $20.66 per hour.
This position is eligible for a weekend differential of $0.60 per hour for all hours worked.
