About the City of Portland Parks, Recreation and Facilities:
Recreation offers opportunities for healthy lifestyles of all ages. Our department offers various programming for Youth, Adults, and 62+, including clinics, leagues, art/music, archery, cooking/baking, nature programs, open gyms, trips, luncheons, and more.

Job Summary:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community? Do you thrive in a fun and engaging environment? Portland Recreation is seeking a Community Center site staff to join our Recreation programs, which offers exciting and enriching activities for all levels! Whether it's helping run a youth clinic, working the scoreboard for refereeing basketball, overseeing a Community Center Site for rentals or drop in programs, we have plenty of opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Good customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to maintain order and enforce rules and regulations and to impart enthusiasm in a positive and productive atmosphere.
  • Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities including games, sports, arts, crafts and group activities.
  • Ability to indirectly support such activities and staff overseeing them. Initiative and willingness to learn a variety of additional recreational activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, program participants, school staff, and the general public.
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or the ability to obtain within the first six months of appointment date. We are happy to train you for this so you can gain additional skills.

Expected Hours/Schedule:
Hours of work vary based on the duration of the program. Many programs run during the week in the evening, or weekends. Ability to commit to a schedule, or be available for as many hours as your schedule allows. Flexibility to work as little or as many days as you are available.

Salary:
$18.00/hour
